Charities We Promote And Support

The Smile Train

The Smile Train, is an international children's charity which is dedicated to helping the millions of children in the world who suffer from cleft lip and palate and also empowers local surgeons and medical professionals in developing countries to perform the surgery themselves. The Smile Train provides free cleft surgery and related treatment for children who would otherwise never receive it.

It takes just $250 to perfrom a surgery on a child with a cleft palate. Not a lot to make a huge difference in a child's and their families life.

The Hospital By The River

In Ethiopia, and large parts of Africa and other parts of the world where there are inadequate medical facilities, these women have a difficult, or perhaps an obstructed labour, maybe for days, leading to a stillborn child, which causes a vaginal fistula (a hole) in the bladder, rectum or in the worst cases, in both, leaving them incontinent in one or two respects. It is lifelong, and untreated, the woman becomes an outcast in her society because of her offensive smell.

Mercy Ships

Imagine ships crewed by doctors, nurses, water engineers and agriculturalists visiting some of the world’s poorest countries. Now imagine their life-changing services offered free of charge… Right now dedicated volunteers from around the world are bringing hope and healing to thousands of people who could never have believed it possible.

Welcome to Mercy Ships, a compassionate response to a world where many have lost hope.

Just A Drop

While some of us can travel the world on business or for pleasure, in Africa and Asia women walk an average of 6km a day just to collect water for their families. While the average family in Europe spends £1,000 on a two-week summer holiday, in the developing world it costs just £1 to supply water to a child for nearly ten years.

Just a Drop is a global charity founded by members of the international travel industry that aims to provide clean water and sanitation where they are most badly needed. Whether you work in the industry or simply enjoy its benefits as a traveller or holidaymaker, please take a few minutes to find out what they do and how you can get involved.
