Yacht chefs and cooks

Not all yachts are looking for qualified chefs but naturally the more papers and verifiable references that you have, attesting that you are skilled in your field, the better. We always recommend that chefs/cooks have a good and up to date health and hygiene certificate. And whenever possible a recognized first aid diploma.

What Are Superyacht Career Chefs & Cooks?
Qualified and experienced cooks come from all walks of life and from diverse backgrounds. Formal training and qualification is essential, but it is the nature of the beast that enables an amazing yacht chef to evolve. Evolution and creativity always spring to mind…a chef never ever stops learning as new produce, concepts and culinary inspiration dictate the form of foods we love and desire. A yacht chef must work alone unless fortunate enough to have a galley chef or sous chef onboard. Generally they will become the source of the entire crews state of culinary satisfaction and contentedness…. as well as the owner’s of course.
Yachting etiquette and hygiene or galley sanitation are essential. Provisioning is also vital be it in the Caribbean where produce and some supplies are virtually impossible to procure or in a new country where ingredients are very different and come in packages that are unintelligible or unrecognisable.
A chef needs to be flexible, adaptable, creative, easy going and love the sea…and the motion that comes with it whilst under passage! Guests dietary needs, allergies and alternative eating habits must be worked with to their satisfaction.
