Provisioning for Superyachts
Provisioning means stocking up with all the provisions for your boat. It is not limited to food but can also include drinks, toiletries, chandlery and more. Essentially it is everything you need to keep the boat running efficiently.
Provisioning the vessel is done by each department head so the engineer will get all the 'stuff' he needs to run the engine properly. A chef will get all the food and equipment he needs to run the galley efficiently and the stewardess will get all the drinks and snacks and toiletries and cleaning materials and equipment she needs.
Provisioning can be a lot of fun but also a lot of hard work. Provisioning for a Caribbean season can find you taking delivery of nearly a ton of meat for your freezer before you leave Europe. (Equally the Engineers ensure that he has everything he needs to ensure that the freezers keep operating!)
