Dream jobThis great article by Aaron C Hauck has some excellent advice when it comes to forging a career in yachting. It's about being realistic, smart and reaching your goal.

Everyone dreams of having the job of their dreams so that going to work every day will be less of just that: work. By having your dream job you are able to wake up every day knowing you don't have to worry nearly as much. A job takes up a major part of your life and should be something you are good at and love to do every single day. Here are a few ways to obtain the job of your dreams.

Know What You Want to Do
Knowing what you want to do and pursue is the first step to begin striving to obtain the job of your dreams. If you don't know what you want to do any where you want to go, you will be wondering every day not knowing, and not getting any closer. Start to get a feel for what you like to do, and then go and be the best at it. There are also many quizzes and tests available online that help you figure out what you are good at and give you a range of jobs that would best fit your lifestyle.

Start from the Bottom
After you know exactly what you want to do, start to build your way up to the top. Get into the type of job that you love to do, and don't stop until you are there. This is a major factor when you are trying to obtain your dream job. If you get into the wrong niche and try to start building your way up in a job market that you don't even like, you won't get far. Make sure you work around and take your time. Figure out what best fits you and what you are the best at. If it seems like you can't find the job that you are truly good at and enjoy, then take a break and find some motivation. Remember why you got started in the first place, and remember where it is you are headed for.

Build Your Way Up
After you have found a job that you are good at and love to do, start to build your way up in that particular business. Get around and get to know people in your industry. This will connect you with some powerful people that will have much more pull on the final decision depending on what it is you are trying to accomplish. It also connects people with you if they are trying to find someone to replace a job or simply hire a new employee. This can take some time, but if you truly love what you are doing, the job will come to you. You won't be focused on time and where you are at, you will just be focused on your job. This is one of the major reasons people don't get selected or promoted for a job. They are too focused on moving up and trying to make more money, they start to lack in their job and don't become as efficient.

Know Where You Are Going
If you know exactly where you are going, and how long it should take you to get there, you are almost guaranteed to get there someday. Try and make a detailed plan of action so that you can follow it and continue to grow. When you set small goals for yourself and slowly build your way up, large goals don't seem to seem so big anymore. They fall into place, and you won't be caught up in the size of the task you are trying to accomplish. This is a key factor to obtaining anything you want in life. Set a detailed plan of action, and follow it every single day. You will soon find the opportunities coming to you.

Stay Motivated
If you don't have motivation, it can be the difference between moving up in your business, and slowly moving backwards. Never lose sight of where you are going. If you have a clear image of where it is you want to be in a specific amount of time, you should have no lack of motivation and determination to get you there. Whenever you do feel discouraged and feel overwhelmed, try and remember all the things you could have if you continue to succeed. Make a list of where you want to be in life, and all the things you wish to obtain. Keep pictures of theses items and other things that motivate you close by. Keep pictures around your office, on your computer, on your phone, anywhere! Just make sure you continue to refresh your memory with these motivating pictures daily. You will never lose sight of where it is you are headed, and will continue to bestow determination inside you.
