Three Tips for Building Job Interview Confidence
By Todd B Bavol
Going on a job interview can be downright intimidating. There is so much on the line with any job interview that you know the importance of making a good impression the first time. For many people, the problem is not just the need to get a job, but also the simple fear of defeat that continues to haunt them. For some people, applying for jobs has become one of the most common parts of the day. If you have been out of work for a while, you may lack confidence on that job interview. That could cost you more than any type of lack of job skill or work experience. The question is, then, how can you build confidence for your job interview?
#1 - Educate Yourself about the Company
One of the best steps to take is to read through the job description thoroughly and to visit the company's website to learn as much as you can about the company. The more you know about this organization, the more confident you can be when answering interview questions. For example, a common question asked is about why you fell you are a good fit for the job. Answering interview questions like this is easy when you can state a few key facts about the company's projects, mission statement, or beliefs.
#2 - Prep Yourself on Common Interview Questions
Look throughout the web and you will find countless opportunities to practice interview questions. Common interview questions, such as those about your strengthens and weaknesses can seem difficult to answer. However, with a bit of research on these common interview questions, you will easily be able to answer them when the hiring manager asks them. In other words, you just need to learn how to answer them to ace them.
#3 - Develop a 2-minute Commercial about You
Finally, to build confidence for your job interview, focus on offering the hiring manager a couple of minutes worth of information on you. In this commercial about you, state the things important about your job skills, work experience, and related information that makes you a good candidate for the position. Once you practice this couple of minutes of information, you will feel more confident when asked to describe yourself.
Don't let a job interview hold you back from getting a job. With the right tips and methods, you can build confidence that will help you to look like the best candidate for virtually any position.
